I read and enjoyed Unbidden first but wasn't sure I wanted to read Redeemed because the protagonist was the villain in the first book. So I was surprised how much I enjoyed the process of Daeg's redemption. The development of the two main characters reflected a steady self-awareness that was entirely believable and really had me rooting for them. It's heartwarming to read a book that deals with the idea that people can change, even if they've acted despicably in their past. I also liked that the author had obviously researched the unusual time period in which the story is set. Her details truly reflected how people must have lived in the early centuries and how they coped with difficult every-day living. It seemed authentic that the newlyweds really didn't know too much about marital copulation unlike today with all the current emphasis on blatant and descriptive sex. Slow discovery, naiveté and doubt more realistically reflect how it is when people live in a more modest and some might say "repressed" society. Redeemed was a thoroughly enjoyable read and hard to put down. Kudos to Jill Hughey.

That is that I didn't want to put it down! I got annoyed when someone interrupted my reading and I had to put it down. You know the story is a good one and the characters well drawn when you can't wait to get back to it and see what happens. I've enjoyed all three books in the series, but this is my favorite.
I was extremely pleased with the author for actually changing opinion of Doeg. I had read book 1 and wasn't sure I could read his story but his character developed realistically over time. I enjoyed the sexual twist which sets it apart from the "same old, same old" sex plots. I did find a few typos and/or missing words but a thoroughly enjoyable read.
I loved all three books in the Evolution series. Beautiful writing, interesting characters, and great stories.

The best kind of series. Each book stands on its own, but is enriched by the others. All three are love stories, yet each is completely unique. Redeemed's heroine, Philantha, was not the type of character I would generally like, yet I loved her. She is soft, resigned to life, and willing to be subservient to "her lord." But, it turns out, Philantha DOES have one dream and does have the strength to pursue it. If you met Doeg in Unbidden, you will love knowing the rest of his story.
This is the second book in her series and it was just as good as the first one. It was wonderful to read about the change in Doeg from the first one, where he was a real Villain. I have already ordered all the books in the series and can't wait to read the next one. the only problem is , I finish them to fast , because I can't put them down. To me they are special also , because of the many historical books I have read , hers are the only one that are set in Bavaria , with towns mentioned near where I was born.
wow after reading the first book in the series i didnt know what to expect in the second book espercially since the male charactor was dipicted as a very selfish, uncaring person in the the first book.
after reading the sample book i was intriged by the female lead as her charactor was very opposit and wanted to see how the two charactors would merge.
i can safely say that i really enjoyed this book maybe more than the first. it was so good to learn and understand the events that drove the main mall lead to do what he did in the firts book and also just to see how he grew with opened himself more.
very good book.
I'm sorry to say that I didn't read the first book in the series before this one. I wish I had, because I loved this book! What a complex character Doeg was! I do love a tortured hero story and this fit the bill perfectly. When Philantha entered the picture I knew she was just the thing to start the arduous process of tearing down Doeg's walls. This book had a very different feel than the average historical romance. It felt more serious, more real and definitely flipped the script on the typical rakish man who had bedded multiple women before marriage. Following Doeg's journey to find himself was wonderful. The way he blossomed under the influence of Phee was a joy to behold. What an extraordinary story. I am eager to read more from Jill Hughey.
Who doesn't love a story about redeeming love?
I actually read this book before the first in the series, so I didn't have the background concerning all of the hero's misdeeds. I then read the first book, Unbidden, and discovered that he had committed horrible acts towards his brother and his brother's wife. I recommend reading the books in order.
Doge was a beautiful, wounded man who made horrible mistakes as a result of his inner pain. Through his introduction to his bride, Philantha, he is led to all that he was intended to be in this life and ultimately, redeemed. The author develops quality characters and presents real obstacles that need to be overcome. There is love, angst, misunderstanding, heartache, and tender love scenes. It was a beautiful romance and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
